Trouble with widgets on home page of "Magazine" theme – help!

  I am trying to put the “featured page” and/or “featured posts” widget on my home page, and it won’t display.

  If I put the widget somewhere else, like the footer, it works fine.

  My goal is to replicate some of the look and feel in the demo of the magazine theme ( http://magazinedemo.wordpress.com/ ) and I’m finding it really challenging.

  FYI – I am not a strong coder. Just using the out of the box features.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
