Trouble With WordAds
-
Hello!
I’ve been getting a bit of trouble earning revenue from WordAds — or even using WordAds.
Despite upgrading to Premium, I’m still seeing WordPress ads on my site; why is this so? Shouldn’t WordPress ads be removed? And shouldn’t I be seeing external ads? Also, I was accepted to WordAds on July 29th but I haven’t been seeing any progress in earnings since. It is because I’m not earning? Or is there a glitch in either the WordAds or WordPress systems?
Maybe I don’t quite understand how WordAds work yet. Can this issue be rectified as soon as possible?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
Online advertising works like the stock market, where advertisers bid in real time on ad space on your site whenever someone opens your site in their browser. Which advertisers bid depends on several factors, with a big one being the location and browser history of the person viewing your site.
Sometimes no advertisers bid, and this is also more likely to happen on a site like yours that still has very low traffic, and that has only been a part of WordAds for a few days. In those cases we display in-house ads instead, as the alternative would be that the box where the ads should go is just blank, which doesn’t look very good.
I don’t see WordPress.com ads when I view your site, though, so WordAds is working.
Also, I was accepted to WordAds on July 29th but I haven’t been seeing any progress in earnings since. It is because I’m not earning?
WordAds earnings are not calculated in real time, but are only released three to six weeks after the end of a given month. So earnings for July won’t be released until the third week of August at the earliest. And as your site was only approved for WordAds on 30 July you’re unlikely to see any earnings for that month.
