Troubles with double spacing after a title header

Hi, I realize some people want to have less double spacing, but I want more! *lol* When I type the heading of a chapter in my novel, with a little bit of a struggle I can get a triple space, which IMO looks best. However, the last time I tried it, I really fought with it, it won’t happen, and I’m giving up for the night. Since I was able to get the triple space before now, why can’t I do it anymore? Is there something in HTML I could do? I tried pasting in several centering tags but it hasn’t done any good.
