Troubles with google indexing

    Hi there,

    Search console is showing errors for my site https://psychanalyse-existentielle.org :
    – redirect error for this page : https://psychanalyse-existentielle.org/sortir-du-mal-etre
    – Discovered – currently not indexed for : https://psychanalyse-existentielle.org/contact/
    – Crawled – currently not indexed for the homepage !!
    Url inspection of the homepage indicates a referring page that does not exists anymore (https://psychanalyse-existentielle.org/about). I renamed it before google tried to index the homepage and the new one is correctly indexed.

    sitemap.xml seems to be ok (but the 2 images indexed in it are the 2 I don’t care; the important ones are not in it)
    All pages are ‘public’

    Fact is there is a risk of duplicate page : I have a wix website (made 1 one year before the current wp one) where the secundary language is french. The new site (wordpress) is only in french. However the homepage from these 2 sites are significantly different and google successfully indexed 2 pages of the wordpress site which are the same as the wix site. So I don’t think the problems showing up in search console are related with a duplicate question.

    I’m lost ! I tried to be clear, sorry for my poor english…

    Bing also refuse to display my homepage: indexed but can’t be dispaled : “The inspected URL has been indexed successfully but there are some issues which might prevent us from serving it to our users”

    It mention an seo error: more than one h1 tag

    Can you tell me if you’ve asked Google to recrawl your site as per this guide: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/crawling/ask-google-to-recrawl?hl=en&visit_id=637483804915793207-3175171168&rd=1

    This may clear up the errors that are appearing there.

    Looking at your site, it is public and can be crawled.

    Hello

    Yes, 3 days ago, page with redirect error still not crawled again…
    However, the homepage turned “green” few minutes ago.
    Contact page has been discarded from indexing too (without error).

    Strange that Bing seems to dislike something too…

    By the way, Bing tells that it’s an Error, not just a warning, to have more than one H1 in a page (title in header + title of the page which cannot be modified as there are coded in the theme). Digging in the web some people say it’s ok, others not.

    And there is also the problem to have the same H1 in header in each page.

    I’ve done some research and it looks like this isn’t an usual error that can arise when Google is crawling or re-crawling a URL.

    Based on the above thread, a Googlebot will eventually crawl the site but likely on its own schedule.

    With regards to H1s, I am unaware of any detrimental effects this can have on the search-ability of the site.

    Are you able to provide more details on the redirect error that is arising?

    Hello there,

    Many thanks for generating the screenshot, that’s most useful.

    I’ve followed the guidance here to try and diagnose the redirect issue they have stumbled upon.

    I used Lighthouse in Inspector tools to diagnose that, however, Lighthouse does not show any errors. At this point, I would recommend reaching out to Search Console support as to why they’re reporting a redirect error that doesn’t seem to be there.

    Coupled with the above issue, my first port of call would be to wait for Google to crawl and index the site at its own pace.

    It can take up to 4 weeks for Google to crawl and index a site into its search results.

    I also tried Lighthouse yesterday and saw nothing.

    From what I understood wp does not provide the possibility to define the description of each pages. It’s possible with Wix and it appears in google search under the site title. wp premium should provide that and also more possibilities for seo…as wix premium does… :)
