  I am having trouble verifying my email address and also launching my site. Also, I was told by my instructor we would be able to sign up for a free account but everything I see is asking me to enter my cc information and I am not comfortable doing that. If someone would please call me so we can troubleshoot something over the phone, I would appreciate it. My phone number is [redacted]

  Hi there!

  WordPress.com does not offer telephone support. For security reasons, I’ve also removed your phone number from your post.

  I’m showing you were able to verify your WordPress.com account earlier today.

  Regarding being prompted to add a credit card number – you’re seeing that because you added the Starter Plan to your shopping cart. If you click the shopping cart icon in the upper right of the page, you can remove the plan from the cart there. Then, you should be able to launch your site for free.
