Troubleshooting my site

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I have been using WordPress for a few weeks (registered with HostGator) for my site mirthify.com. A few nights ago the site became unreachable from all devices, including just my own ability to view and work on it as admin. Today, I clicked the WordPress notification to correct it, and the first suggestion was to disconnect and reconnect JetPack. I disconnected, but then the site was deleted from my WordPress dashboard, and now I can’t recover it. I already paid HostGator all the fees for WP, so I don’t want to choose a new plan on WP.
    Now I need help to:
    1. View my site in the WordPress Dashboard
    2. Restore the site so that it is reachable by myself as admin and by the public
    Thank you,
    Emily

    Hi There,

This forum is only for sites hosted on WordPress.com.
If you have any questions on self-hosted site You can post here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

However seeing your question, I think the best point of contact is your hosting provider.

  • Hi Emily,

Please contact Hostgator support directly, as it sounds like the problem is on their end.

The Jetpack connection issue you saw on our end appeared because the site went down on Hostgator’s end – that prevents Jetpack from communicating with your site. So it’s not related to the problem itself.

Once your site is back online and you have access to the dashboard again, you’ll be able to reconnect Jetpack as well so it’s listed in your WordPress.com account again.

As your site isn’t hosted with us, you don’t need to pay us anything. But we’re also not able to help in any way in this case, as we have no control over your site or the server it’s on.
