Troubleshooting static front page
-
I’ve followed all the instructions. I am setting up my third blog so I’m reasonably experienced. But – when I try to set up a static front page, instead of a changing one, I still find two ‘Home’ links in the navigation box where you choose ‘static’. The instructions tell me that if this happens I can “solve the problem” by setting up a custom menu. But I don’t want to go to the trouble of setting up a custom page: I just want to know why it doesn’t work as it should. Does it depend on the theme I wonder?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes it is a fact that some themes are designed to have Home pages and some are not so designed. If you set up a custom menu you can resolve this easily. To deal with your 2 home pages issue create a custom menu and include only your own Home page and any other pages and items you want in the menu, save the menu, and then from the “primary location” pulldown in the theme location module at upper left on the menu page, select your custom menu name and then click save.

Thanks! But here’s a thing – the problem is solved and I don’t quite know why. I have wrestled with it for an hour and a half, but suddenly it’s working. I am a bit nervous of the custom menu thing – it looks too complicated. Anyway, don’t need it for now. But thanks for your help. Much appreciated :)
