[Truly Minimal] Custom background colors
-
I’m in the process of migrating my blog to the Truly Minimal theme. Please be aware that the new logo isn’t active on this site yet.
I want the background to be a specific color, except the main body where the blog posts and widgets are. In other words: background should be #525150 except where there’s text (main column and sidebar) which should be white. There’s no way of doing that in the theme (or with custom CSS, as far as I can see).
As an example: this is how I want it to be:
I’ve created this by creating a background (3000×8000 pixels) with three color areas (#525150, #FFFFFF, #525150). The logo in the header is transparent (and doesn’t contain the wobbly white/grey line between the big and small text).
Now, this works, but has two problems:
1. The background image file is huge while it doesn’t really do much.
2. If a blog posts is longer than 8000 pixels, the background will suddenly stop being displayed. Now, I could make a smaller background (3000×1000) and have it tile horizontally, but then I run into the following problem: the background has some specific styling to it (the wobbly bit between the grey and white near the header logo). If I tile, that element will come back every 1000px, which I don’t want.
Next step: move the styling from the background to the transparent logo. The problem here is that the logo with the styling is scaled down by the theme to be a maximum of 955px wide, which isn’t wide enough to cover the white space in the background between the two grey bars.
So, my question: is there a way to stretch how big the header logo can be so that I can fit it exactly in between the two grey bars?
