Trust

How to gain “trust” on my site? I often get notifications from my Safari browser that the certificate could not be validated, “domain name mismatch.” How can I avoid this issue for people who visit my site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Brandon,

This error is caused when you attempt to view a WordPress.com site with a custom domain using the https:// version of a URL. With so many custom domains mapped to the WordPress.com sites, we cannot provide a new SSL certificate for every domain, but we actively maintain one for WordPress.com.

When someone chooses to view your site using the https version, the browser senses that the certificate is registered for WordPress.com but the site is one of your domains – like opinfrastructure.com – and the names do not match. This causes the alert. Readers can still get through to the site by selecting to ignore the certificate mismatch.

So long as you always point users to your site with the http:// version of the url, not the https:// version, your users will be fine.

You may still see the warnings while you use https:// to visit your admin pages. Most browsers have a way to make a permanent exception to the warning and we recommend you implement that to make the warnings go away while you work on your site.
