try before switching
-
I want to experiment with wordpress to see if I can do what I need to with my limited knowledge, but don’t want to mess with my functioning website while I’m experimenting. I may like to switch from my paid service once I determine this, but I need to keep the site functioning as is for now. What can I do?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi,
You can build your new site here and then wait to connect the domain until everything is ready to go.
You can get a free site and the free features with a
.wordpress.comsubdomain. Use a temporary name for your site as an example: sitename.wordpress.comKeep the new site private as to not affect any SEO.

Once you are ready you can choose to transfer or map your domain to WordPress.com

You do need a paid plan to be able to use your current domain on WordPress.com
