Trying out wordpress as my new website
-
Hi.
I have chosen the Theme/Design called Stowe, but I would like to edit the colours and the fonts. But I do not know if that is possible? Maybe I will have to buy a premium vertsion to be able to do that? I would judt be nice to know wich design possibilities I have before spending my money.
Can you help?
Thanks

Hi Sidselmarie,
the theme Stow allows you to create the homepage using our Block Editor and you can choose the colors of each element directly in the editor.
As for the theme colors, like the menu bar, for example, on Premium plan these can be modified with CSS – we can help you with that. The only thing you won’t be able to change are fonts, these are predetermined. Plan Business may allow you to change those using a custom plugin.
I recommend you to try it out – if you decide it’s not working out for you, you have 30 days to cancel and obtain a full refund (with the exception of custom domains, those can be refunded only during the first 96h).
Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that :)

Hi again.
Thanks for the info. I´ve tried a new theme in the meantime, which I like better, called Dara.
I now like the design, it is ok for my needs at the moment. But I have a problem, that when I hit a subject (whant to change page) in my menu-bar, it´s like the site is jumping, it looks very strange.
And when I look at my web-site in the browser Safari, on my site/subject called “various artwork” the image that I have on that site is jumping totally out of place.
Can you help me with that?
Thanks

Hi there,
Yeah, I see exactly what you are saying. If you notice, when you click on the menu, your site title is initially enlarged and then quickly shrinks, causing the jumping effect every time you click on a different menu item. A possible work around is to go to your Dashboard > Customize > Site Identity and disable the box that says Display Site Title and Tagline. You can create a header image with the site title instead (or add a tagline to see if the prevents the jumping), but you shouldn’t have to do that.
I’m going to report this and see what is causing this issue and provide you with an update soon.
Thanks!

Actually, if you go to Dashboard > Customize > Fonts , I see that you have the tiny sized font. If you adjust the size, it may affect the jumping. Also, try going with the default font and resizing it and see if it still happens.
Let me know, thanks!

It worked out fine when I whent back using the original font size for the title of the site.
But I dont like that my name get so big, so I will proberly have to try out a new theme, then. When it does not seem to work out, when you try to chance the size of the font in the title. And it did not work when I tried to put in my name as a logo either.
It still made my menu jump around….

When you consider spending money on a theme, it does not feel safe, that you do not know what you might get….

I’m not sure what you mean here. The font size can only be changed for all headings across the site at once. Where are you changing it for the title only?
And it did not work when I tried to put in my name as a logo either.
I’m also not sure what you mean here. What exactly did you try to add as the site logo? And what did not work/went wrong when you did?
When you consider spending money on a theme
Stow and Dara are both free themes made by WordPress.com. There are no premium versions of these themes that you can buy.
If you do buy any of the premium themes we offer at WordPress.com/themes and you’re not happy with it, you can cancel it for a full refund within 30 days.
