Trying out WordPress without using a domain name?

  • Unknown's avatar

I already own a domain name I’m planning to use for a blog, but before committing to any particular blogging system I want to try out WordPress (as I have done with another ssytem) to figure out functionality, and which system will work best for what I want to achieve. Is it possible to play around with WordPress (basically, see if I can create the blog I want) without committing to a domain name first? I.E. can I create an offline, draft or beta-blog, before giving it a domain name? I haven’t found a way to do that so far. Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Yes, you can test WordPress.com. You can use a free .wordpress.com or .blog subdomain address to build a test site and see how things work.

Please note that not all features are available on the Free plan. If you want to test advanced features that are offered in our paid plans, you can purchase a plan and request a full refund within 30 days.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
