Trying to add a new user. It asks for user name – (Sam Farncombe) – email, first name, last name. I get that. Logical. Then it asks for ‘Website’ but when I click in the bar, my name comes up with a yellow background, and it automatically fills in the password with black dots – i assume my password.
This seems illogical
1. why would a request for ‘Website’ require my name
2. why would a new user – Sam – be given what I assume is my password.
Who invents this stuff to make it so difficult!? Please, can someone help me quickly. are there any bloody Happy Engineers out there? I don’t want to waste your time on a Friday night when we must all have more fun things to do.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s not asking for your name, it’s asking for the name of the user you are inviting.
why would a new user – Sam – be given what I assume is my password.
The password is automatically generated and it is a password that the user will receive to login to your site.
Your information comes up because you have autofill options selected for your browser.
However, it seems that the add user page you are referring to is on a self hosted WordPress site. This is a support forum for sites hosted on WordPress.com. Here is the difference:
If you are on a WordPress.com site, like breddymn.wordpress.com for example, you will not see those options when trying to add a new user. This is what you will see:

Hi Brian, that’s very kind of you to try to help me. Not sure if you’re a Word PRess guy or a very generous member of the public, but either many thanks for trying to help. Sadly, I’m too daft to understand what to do!
So…here let me try again if I may.
When the Add New User page asks me for the person’s ‘Last Name’, I know what to enter. His ‘last name’.
When it asks me for ‘Website’ what should I enter in the empty box?
Second, when it fills in the password – black dots – I understand it is issuing a password for the new user. But it then asks me to ‘Repeat Password (required)’. How can I do this if i don’t know what the password is? I tried to copy and paste it but it won’t copy. Am I being completely and utterly stupid. I imagine so…Please tell me what to type in the boxes if you can. M -
Ha! Ignore last request. I’ve overridden the autofill, stuck in the website name, overriden the auto password and made up my own. Seems to have worked. Always a risk I’ll screw it up completely as I usually do with anything vaguely technical – like TV remote control – but I’ll go with this for now.
