Trying to add a new theme, having trouble right from the start!

I’ve been looking at youtube tutorials on adding a new theme to my wordpress blog, majority of them show me to click on the “add new theme” tab under appearances, but i’m not sure if this is an older version of wordpress as i don’t have this tab!? any help would be much appreciated, as you can tell by my blog, i’m very new at this and already pulling my hair out haha. blogger.com was easy to use, but once i get my wordpress blog personalised i’m sure i’d like it much better!

Appearance -> Themes (not “add a new theme”).
Just browse, preview, choose and activate the one you like best. -
We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.

You cannot add a new theme on a wordpress blog, but you can only choose themes by going Dashboard>Appearence>Themes.

Of course it would be a great idea to add themes based on personal favourite, unfortunately, if you host your own wordpress.org, then you are allowed to upload themes that you like.
