Trying to add a widget -need help

    I am trying to add a widget and it is not working. I have a website that has a search widget. I have html code for it. Supposedly I can just copy and paste it to my blog and it will create a search tool that will tie to my website. I tried adding a text widget to my blog and copy and pasting the code. When I save the text widget the code dissappears and only my title appears on my blog and bland underneath. Can anyone help?

    This is a multiuser blogging platform and we have code restictions here for security reasons. For example Javacript and iframes cannot be used.
