trying to add adsense to my wordpress

  I have been trying to add google adsense to my worpress for the last few days now… I have put endless hours into watching tutorials and trying to figure it out for myself but nothing seems to be working for me. I get my advertisement code from adsense and then when I add it into the sidebar text widget… it just comes through as a bunch of coding and never does anything.. very frustrating. please help, thank you

  The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.

  For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.
