Trying to Add RSS Widget But Getting Error

I added the RSS widget for my Google Reader, but it displays on my homepage with the following error: An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.
What am I doing wrong?

The link you put into the RSS widget is not the link to a feed. It is the URL of your google account/reader page. You would need the URL of the feed for that page, if it has one.

That’s what I can’t figure out. Would the feed be something outside Google? Sorry, I’m not very technically minded when it comes to this stuff.

Okay, but is the RSS widget meant for showing the feed of things I’m following? For example, if I can figure out the URL for my Google reader feed, if I input that, will it show what I’m following via Google Reader? Maybe I’m completely misunderstanding what the widget is used for.

You have to get the RSS feed URL’s for the things you are following and then put those into the RSS widget. You cannot follow an RSS feed reader.
