Trying to build a menu with tabs at the top of the page

  Hi,
  I am trying to build a website that has tabs at the top of the page. I would like those tabs to be the titles of my pages. I cannot figure out how to do this or how to have ANY kind of menu on my page. I’m using the sidespied theme, is that the problem? Would a different theme fix this? Or am I missing something else? I’ve tried searching for an answer but was not able to find one! Thank you!
