Trying to change my password, but I get a broken link not allowing me to

  • Unknown's avatar

I try changing my password, doing the following steps:
    1. I click the reset password link button
    2. It redirects me to where I am supposed to type in my email to get the new password
    3. Once I type in my email to get the resset password link I get an error message insteadand not allowing me to.
Hope the above makes sense and I’d appreciate the help!

The blog is actually https://preporuchvam.bg not the one mentioned above…

  • Hi there,

What is the error message you are receiving?

I checked and the site preporuchvam.bg appears to be a self-hosted, WordPress (also called “.org”) site.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities, but the essential difference is that we don’t have access to all WordPress sites, only ones hosted on our WordPress.com servers. For more information, please see:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

However, if you have access to the server control panel through your web host, it is always possible to regain access to a self-hosted, WordPress site. This WordPress.org Codex article will walk you through the steps:

Also, you may wish to contact your hosting support team for direct assistance.

Thank you for the quick response Darnell. It is a user of the website actually, who gets this error, but it is something like:
“wrong/expired link, please try refreshing your password again”
It isn’t 100% accurate quote, but you get the idea. Issue is that this is done instantly after getting the password reset email from WordPress.
We got our hosting from these guys:
    Superhosting.bg
Hope this clears the air, a bit.
    Best,
    Martin

  • Hi Martin,

Unfortunately we can’t help with this, as we have no control over the logins for any users on your site. Those credentials are stored in your site’s database, which we don’t have access to.

Please see if the WordPress.org support page Darnell linked to above helps you solve this issue. If not, please ask for advice in the WordPress.org forums – those users also don’t have access to your site to help directly, but they’ll have more experience with this type of issue and would be able to tell you what you can try next.
