trying to change to .org

  Hi, I am having massive problems with switching from .com to .org. I am completely lost and would appreciate any help.

  1. I have had an .com site with wordpress for years and have chosen to switch to .org since I want to use a theme I have just purchased.
  2. I bought a domain space with dreamhost and attempted to install wordpress on it but it claims it already has been installed, I believe this is the .com version
  3. I am trying to upload my purcashed theme but this seems impossible since .org has not been activated. like I said, I’m very lost.

  Please help.

  Thanks, understood, but maybe you can still help me with the fact that my .com site still exists even though I’m supposed to be with dreamhost right now. Should I just delete my wordpress.com site and account because all I’m getting is .com dashboard functionality.

  but i don’t want to transfer my blog, i want to have http://www.terrymaranda.com clear for use. I would like to buy the domain space with Dreamhost so I can install wordpress.org and a theme I purchased. All the content on my old site doesn’t need to be saved. Unless I can transfer http://www.terrymaranda.com to a terrymaranda.com that doesn’t exist yet?

  Once you setup hosting with Dreamhost, you can direct the domain to their nameservers following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
