Trying to change user role from viewer to contributor on a protected/private blog
-
I am trying to increase the user rights/change the role of a viewer in a private blog that we use for a university class. One of our instructors is currently listed as a ‘Viewer’ but he’ll be taking over a section of the class so I want to change him to either a ‘Contributor’ or ‘Editor’ but cannot seem to do so.
I would normally just send an e-mail re-inviting him to the site, but for some reason he doesn’t get those e-mails – they don’t show up in his Inbox, Junk, or Clutter folders. Is there any way to change him from a viewer to a contributor or editor via WP admin? I’m using the Pictorico theme, by the way.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Looks like you’d do it from here:
https://wordpress.com/people/team/rysheets.wordpress.com(If that direct link doesn’t work, just click on My Sites in the top left, then click on People, and change the person’s role from there)
More on this:

Thanks, Jason, for the prompt reply – yesterday afternoon, I tried following the WP support guidelines you posted a few moments ago but found that when I click on the “Viewers” tab in the “People” section, there’s no way to change his role.
I clicked on his name and, unlike the people listed on the “Team” section of the page, when I clicked on his name, it didn’t direct me to a new page where I could have changed his role.
It is pretty weird – I’ve been using WP for a couple of years and I’ve never had this situation arise before.
Go Hawks, indeed :-)

I don’t know what else to suggest, so I’ve typed ‘modlook’ into the Tags area on the right. A knowledgeable staff member will be along with better advice!

@rysheets thanks I went to add new users here: https://wordpress.com/people/new/stutzmanf16bcap.wordpress.com and put in that username and it sent an invitation.
It looks like it worked. Can you confirm?

It worked! Thank you for fixing that – I don’t know how doing that worked for you and it didn’t work for me, but all I care about is that he has access to his course’s site. Thank you for the help. I’ll close the ticket.
