Trying to create a free blog, getting stuck at step 4 in wizard

Hi! I’m trying to create a blog, getting stuck at step 4 in wizard. I don’t need a domain, I’m just trying to set up a simple free blog. But I can’t get past step 4.

I should point out that I have set up blogs here before and have 2 now, one is Premium with a domain. It’s always been easy to set up before. But I honestly am stumped trying to get past choosing a domain name, which I do not need. Can somebody help me get past this obstacle before I am forced to use Blogger? (Ugh, that would be awful!)
I do not need to set this up as a subdomain of my Premium site, this is for a totally different purpose.

Thanks for posting about this. I also just tried to register a new free WordPress.com website and was offered only paid options at Step 4: Let’s get your blog a domain!

Never mind. I switched from the laptop to the phone and I got it to go on the first try. I’m having one of those mornings after having one of those nights. ;)

I just posted while you were writing yours, I guess. I finally got past step 4. It was much easier to do on my phone. On my laptop I kept getting the message that I needed to choose a domain and a paid plan. On my phone it showed me several domain names I could use with a free site. So it took a few seconds like it always did in the past. Whew! Thought I’d lost my ever lovin’ mind for a minute there. 😁

Thanks for letting us know. If there is a free option available for the address you want, it usually appears under the first two paid domain options. Cheers. :)
