Trying to create a free plan blog

  I want to use my domain name that I own elsewhere and it sends me to purchase a plan – but I want the free plan after I click on use a domain name I already own. No option to choose the free plan. Is the reason that you have to purchase a domain name from them in order to get the free plan?

  Under the free plan you get the domain with the suffix .wordpress.com.

  If you want to add custom domain to your site then you must be under any of the of the paid plans. For more information please refer to the support document below:
