Trying to customize blog, changes not saving

    Hi, so I have the theme fictive on my blog, and I’m trying to customize it (background color, font etc). However, the changes I make are not being applied to my blog. whenever I go into customize my changes are all there, however when I click X on customize my changes are nowhere to be found. It tells me that my design changes have been saved, I just don’t know how to apply them to my blog. Also, when I am in customize mode, and click refresh, my changes are all there, it’s just when I go back to my blog homepage that the changes appear to reverse. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Any help is much appreciated :)

    I should have also said that the fact I am using the fictive theme is irrelevant. I have tried this with several other themes, and I have encountered the same problem

    The Customizer is just a free preview of what you could do if you had the Custom Design upgrade. When you click Save it should say that.

    The changes you can make for free are under Theme Options.

    If you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.

    To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

    You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
    Appearance > Header
    Appearance > Background
    Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
    Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
    Site Title and Tagline > Settings > General
