Trying to decided on a web host..

Good Afternoon, I am trying to decide on a web host. I am not the most tech savvy person and I don’t understand a lot of this but I am learning. I have read reviews that has suggested I use sites like, host gator, go daddy and etc. Although those are a lot cheaper than going through word press, I just don’t know if it is the best decision for me. What are some pros and cons and can someone please explain if it is better to just go with word press upgraded plan. Thank you

It comes down to what you need. WordPress.com, and self-hosted WordPress.org are similar in many respects, but very different in others, and stuff you can do on the one you can’t necessarily do in the other. So without knowing exactly what it is you want to do it is very hard to even begin to answer your question.

You’ll notice at the second link that in terms of hosting we recommend Pressable and Bluehost, but again the host and hosting plan you choose will depend on your needs. First figure out exactly what you want to do, and then find a hosting provider and plan that will help you do that.
For more advice on specific hosts, finding hosting and setting up a self-hosted site, it’s better to post in the self-hosted WordPress.org forums where the users have more experience in these matters:
