Trying to delete the comment/discussion part of pages
-
Tried going to page-specific page-settings-discussion-unchecked everything and the page still has “leave a reply” and reply box.
Help section says to un-check “allow comments” and “allow trackbacks” but I don’t have any boxes that say that specifically. I do have one box that says “allow people to post comments on new articles”, and lots of setting for comments but nothing that says “allow comments”. Support also said to go to “screen options” and un-check comments, which I have done. Still have not been able to remove the comments section. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules
All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

I went to my dashboard (admin) and upper right and there is no box that says “discussion”.
I have also tried going to discussions and making sure the “allow” button is not checked. Still will not take the comments section off site. I have tried updating, publishing and saving everything but nothing seems to work. Thanks for the ideas I appreciate the help. This is very frustrating. I have two sites set up and neither one of them will let me remove the comments section. -
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and enable or disable comments. If you are then I’m sorry but I know what I posted above is accurate and I don’t know any other way to explain to you what you need to do.

Thank you for trying. I appear to be the administer since I can go to dashboard/users/invite new users without a problem.
I am probably just missing something simple.
This is new to me so I don’t know where to go from here. I think if I find a local person who uses wordpress maybe they can take a look at what I am doing and tell me what I am doing wrong.
Thank you so much for your patience and help. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. -
I’m truly sorry I wasn’t able to help you. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Another Volunteer may answer prior to Staff but I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Actually you are missing something. You need to be on the page where you want to change the comment settings for the specific screen options module you want to appear.

Hi there!
It looks like comments are disabled on your site currently. Were you able to figure this out? Or do you still need some help?
