Trying to delete website

    I am trying to delete my website from wordpress and I keep getting an error message ‘user cannot delete jetpack site via API’.

    I am trying to free up a domain I purchased for a wordpress website, however after cancelling my plan and removing the paid domain, the domain is still linking to my free website, so I need to figure out how to delete the free site too.

    Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi @osoclan001,

    I’ve checked your account and can confirm that you now only have a Free site with us. Please note that canceling a paid plan and domain resets your site URL to the default subdomain assigned during your initial sign-up.

    If you’d like to delete your Free site entirely, you can follow the steps outlined here:
    https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

    Under Account settings it states “

    We are still in the process of removing one or more of your sites. This process normally takes 15-20 minutes. Once removal is completed, you should be able to close your account from this page.”

    It has said this for 2 hours. I still cannot delete my free site.

    Also when will the domain I purchased originally, and linked to my wordpress site be available for purchase again for use on another platform? It is currently still connecting to my free website.

    Also it is still saying “user cannot delete jetpack site via API” on site settings when I try to delete it. Still need assistance please.

    I detached the domain from the site, so please try deleting the site now:

    (scroll to the end of the Settings tab and click the red “Delete” button)

    Your domain is safe and sound, and you can manage it from here:
