Trying to export xml file

I have been a whole day not able to understand how to transfer my Blogger xml file into WP. The WP import in dashboard says php file is too large. I added a plug in and all it did was download garble into my posts all dated for todays date. I need help exporting so all of my old content appears in my site as I transferred to WP today. Thank you.
