I get how to upload it to google but before doing that it needs to be uploaded to my blog … that is what I am having trouble with … any suggestions on how to do that?

this is what it tells me to do

Once you have a Sitemap in one of the supported formats:

“”Upload your Sitemap to your site in the highest level directory you want search engines to crawl, generally the root.””

If you list URLs in your Sitemap that are at a higher level than your Sitemap location, Google will be unable to include those URLs as part of the Sitemap submission.
Make sure you have added your site to your Webmaster Tools account. On the Dashboard, click Add next to the site for which you want to add a Sitemap.
Type the URL to your Sitemap location in the provided field.
    Click Submit Sitemap.

You’d better try reading the info ellaella linked to.

I did see ellaella’s link.. if you note the post above yours, that is where I got the info from in the first place .. I understand how the web master tool works just fine .. problem is, they have no explanation on how to “upload the sitemap to the blog” itself .. THAT is my question .. not how to create one or submit it to google..

You don’t actually upload the sitemap that google creates for you.

    4. You will be presented with several verification methods. Choose Upload an HTML file.
    5. Copy the filename, which looks something like google1234567890abcdefgh.html
    6. Leave the verification page open and go to your blog dashboard.
    7. Create a new page (not a post) with the filename as a title and publish it. Don’t worry if the dot from the filename is stripped, like in google1234567890abcdefgh html.
    8. Go back to the verification page and click Verify.

finally a straight answer, thank you sacred! I did follow those steps and added the “google1234567890abcdefgh.html” page then hid it after .. that came back ok and my site was verified. in the next column though, it gives you the option to submit a sitemap via XML … that is where I got stuck as they asked me to upload it to my WP blog .. I am unsure of how to do that still ..

these were the exact instructions when I saw that option :

Once you have a Sitemap in one of the supported formats:

“”Upload your Sitemap to your site in the highest level directory you want search engines to crawl, generally the root.””

If you list URLs in your Sitemap that are at a higher level than your Sitemap location, Google will be unable to include those URLs as part of the Sitemap submission.

Type the URL to your Sitemap location in the provided field.
    Click Submit Sitemap.

You do not upload a sitemap. You are already done. That’s the instructions for WordPress.ORG blogs.

@bettieblogger, I simply copied that out of the linked page that Ella posted, and pasted it here into the forum, and that you were pointed toward by panaghiotisadam earlier.

The information was here all the time.

lol .. I have been trying to figure this out for two days ..

so I will still get indexed just by the steps I followed already?

thanks for you help guys .. sorry I’m new to this, can’t learn if I don’t ask right? ;)
