My blog is gone!!
My entire wordpress account is also apparently gone because my username doesn’t work, my email address doesn’t work, and my password doesn’t work…so I can’t even ask for a new password to get back into my dashboard to see what happened to all my posts etc.
Even the information in my wordpress gravatar has been deleted.
I worked very hard on that blog!
Did someone hack it?
I paid for a dotcom domain through wordpress, and I can’t even access that now either because it’s tied to my wordpress blog.
What’s going on?
I would appreciate some help very much! Please?
I have been trying to get help for over a week. I did finally get a response from wordpress support from someone named Rose, and here is what the reponse from Rose said…

Well, respectfully, I am dawnblue and I would NEVER delete the posts on my blog. Also, I can’t get a password emailed to be because wordpress isn’t recognizing my username or email address. And finally…my wordpress email address is NOT a yahoo.com account. My wordpress email is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Again, I would appreciate some help very much.

My wordpress blog is http://www.hinkylinkz.com … I actually bought the dot.com address through my wordpress account. My wordpress username is dawnblue. I wasn’t able to list my REAL wordpress blog address or username because for some reason…neither of them are working. My wordpress email address is hinkylinkzathotmaildottcom…but someone from WordPress Support named Rose told me my wordpress email address is a yahoo account, which it absolutely is not. Getting incredibly frustrated…would love some advice. *sigh*

1. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems.2. 3. Which browser and version of it are you using?
The reason you have an error message on your blog’s front page is because you deleted the Hello World post. As soon as you publish a post, not page this error message will disappear.

And you’re right, the blog isn’t technically gone…but all the content and posts within the blog are gone. Someone named Rose from wordpress says they were deleted…she sent me an email stating that on December 9th but has not responded to any of my return reponses. The only items that appear to remain on my glob is a few links in the sidebar, most of which don’t work. My calendar widget is missing from the sidebar however. Even the title of my blog, formerly located in the top left corner, has been replaced by “……” But all that aside and what’s worse, is that I can’t even log into my wordpress blog and access my dashboard. WordPress isn’t accepting my username- dawnblue, or my email address. And since I bought my dotcom web address through my wordpress account, I can’t even transfer my dontcom address elsewhere because I can’t get into my wordpress account to get the information I need to transfer it. That said, I dont actually WANT to transfer it elsewhere, I just want to access my blog and figure out what happened to all my content. It’s been suggested to me by my husband that perhaps my blog was attacked due to come controverial subject matter that was being discussed? Beyond that, yes, my cache has been cleared. I am connecting to wordpress with the latest version of IE. I am connected to wordpress right now but I had to create a new account because i can’t access my old one. I am on a wireless cable network. I have also tried to connect to my old wordpress account with a different computer at work and also from a different computer at a relatives house, but I get the same results everywhere. I tried from a friends iphone as well- same results. WordPress won’t take my username, password, or email address.
I apologize if this sounds confusing. I don’t know how else to explain the situation.

clarification: Rose from WordPress Support said that someone with the username of dawnblue logged into my account and deleted all the content on my blog. Well, since I’m dawnblue and I know I didn’t delete all the content…is it possible my blog was attacked? And I have been emailing support@wordpress for well over a week, however I have only gotten the one response from a person named Rose and judging by her response it appears she didn’t even read my email. How long does it usually take to get a response from WordPress Support? And do they have a phone number? Again, thanks!

I know…my username is still active, which is just another oddity in all this and why my husband who is an IT guy with General Electric thinks my blog was attacked. Now in my opinion, the idea of someone attacking my blog is ridiculous…I only had like 7 followers and we were JUST getting started and I can’t imagine that a hacker would even know my blog existed. That said, I put a lot into my blog before I allowed it to be publicized…and since I am a newbie at this I didn’t save my database yadda yadda. Since all this happened I have been doing some reading and I have learned that not saving a database is stupid…live and learn I guess. I am a mother and nurse by trade…and all this was very new to me…was looking for a hobby and absolutely LOVED what I discovered…and now it’s gone,,,including my access to the dotcom domain I purchased and it seems there is nothing I can do about it? oa;kdfna;lsekrj’

You can export a site here at tools > export but you cannot actually save the database since we do not have direct access to that. “Saving the database” is something for self-hosted WordPress sites. Most of the information you will find by searching on the internet is for self-hosted WordPress installations and is not applicable here at wordpress.com.

It sounds like someone got your log-in and password – once you get back into your blog you need to change the password and make sure that there are no extra users in your account and that the Post by email has not been enabled.

Thanks for the info! I worry that the support people at wordpress don’t really understand what’s going on with my blog, that…
1.) I can’t request a new wordpress password because wordpress no longer recognizes my username or email address…I can’t access wordpress in any way/shape/form as dawnblue. Yet at the same time, wordpress claims my username is still active?
2.) That someone named Rose from WordPress Support emailed me and told me my wordpress email address was a yahoo account…however it’s NOT a yahoo account, it’s a hotmail account. Is it possible that if someone hacked my blog, that they changed my blog’s email address so future wordpress support communication would be hindered? Is it possible that worpress support is communicating with me at that yahoo email address and that’s why I’m not getting their communications?
And I know you can’t do anything…lol…I’m just venting I guess. At any rate, I appreciate you tagging this thread very much!

Not generally, no.
And yes, it’s very likely WP staff are trying to communicate with you through the Yahoo address. But also check your spam folder in your regular email.
You can email them directly at Support at WordPress Dot Com.

There should have been a confirming email if my memory is correct that went to your hotmail account for a change of email address – so double check your hotmail account and change the password there also –

PS: also check your computer for viruses and key-loggers and if you use a Wi-Fi network that it is secure.

There was also a case a few years ago where someone had installed a browser add-on for “clean code” and it deleted the entire contents of his blog.
