Trying to get my domain back
-
My site is now yourbodycard.wordpress.com. I would like to upgrade again to yourbodycard.com As I am trying to do this it is saying it is already taken. I had this site for 3 years but did not renew it last year. However, when I search my domain name (yourbodycard.com) it says it is registered with godaddy. Is this domain name still available, I’d like to keep my business with wordpress.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, if you did not renew your custom domain last year, it is quite possible that someone else purchased it when it expired and is now squatting on it in the hopes you’ll pay them a generous fee to get it back.
Unfortunately, looking at the domain and the domain WHOIS it does look like that is the case. You won’t be able to get it back without paying the domain squatter.
For general knowledge, here’s what happens when a domain name expires: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
If you want your visitors to find your WordPressdotcom site in the meantime, set your yourbodycard.wordpress.com as the primary domain on your site by changing it in the domains dashboard. (At the moment it is redirecting to the “for sale” domain page). https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain
Sorry for no better news.

Hi there,
The domain, yourbodycard.com, was registered with GoDaddy on 12 October last year, so it’s not available to use at this point. It looks like when you owned it, it would have expired in July last year. It was subsequently released, and someone else bought it. That someone else is a domain squatter who’ll probably be willing to sell the domain back to you at a profit, as @justjennifer indicated.
You can find their contact details in the Whois info should you wish to pursue that option: https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=yourbodycard.com
I’d just advise you to be careful – domain squatters are also often scam artists, and are as likely to defraud you as they are to return your domain to you. Proceed at own risk.
As you won’t be able to use the domain mapping upgrade you bought without owning the actual domain, I’ve removed that from your account and restored the free domain in your Personal Plan so you can use it for a different domain. Or if you’d prefer to rather refund the Personal Plan, you can cancel it from the Purchases page:
