Trying to get photo gallery-type thing going

  Hi, I like my current theme — basic and simple. But I’m trying to do something with the front page, which you can see here: royalpratt.com

  I want to have something similar to what a friend of mine has here: http://cbsweeney.com

  I want to use images from my stories to link to them in a gallery on the main page, underneath my bio.

  But I have no idea how to add a plugin or something to my theme that’ll let me do that on the frontpage, underneath the bio. I don’t even really know the first place to go… Help?
