trying to get WordPress out of the domain name
-
I think I followed the directions WordPress gave. I went to the domain page, typed in the url of my domain. Hit the “Add Domain to Blog” button. Paid the $10.00 for it to happen, then as per what I thought it said, went to Godaddy where i bought the domain name, went to Nameservers and added the 3 changes in the first 3 slots. Now when I type my domain name in the address bar of IE or Safari it says “Can’t Find the Server”. Is there something I am missing?

What is the URL of the WordPress.com blog? What is the URL you are trying to use with it? How long have you waited (it can take actually a couple of days for this to get worked out, even during the week)?
Things don’t happen quickly on weekends.

Raincoaster, I did it yesterday, Saturday, so maybe the time is the issue. My URL is healthnewspodcast.com. What comes up on WordPress is healthnewspodcast.wordpress.com.
I very much appreciate your help!

Have you gone to upgrades>domains (in your Dashboard) and did the “put blog here” thing?
-
-
No, that’s not what I meant. If you go to upgrades>domains, you should see two domains listed. Under “function” the mapped domain (in your case, healthnewspodcast.com) should have “Your blog url.” If it doesn’t, click on “put your blog here” and that should redirect your wordpress.com url to the mapped one.

OK, then it seems that the domain mapping hasn’t taken effect yet. You should have 2. Take a look here. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/ It includes the info on checking whether the domain has propagated yet.
I just looked – it seems like it has. So try starting with adding the domain again.

i TRIED ADDING THE DOMAIN NAME AGAIN AND IT ASKED ME TO GO TO PAYPAL AND PAY AGAIN. THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.
-
Then the domain mapping hasn’t been accepted by WordPress yet. It is the weekend, after all. Wait until tomorrow. And, if necessary, contact support when they open.

Support is open right now. Sounds as if you need their help. You can use the Support button in the upper right of your dashboard.
