Trying to Host my Websites, anyone can tell me whats my limitations.
-
So hey! I’m so new to wordpress. Here’s my small introduction!
I’ve started around a month ago. And well got to the point of no return, WordPress is addictive as hell… I’m creating great looking websites with no expertise in coding hahah at first I thought,
“i’ll probably give up after the first 2 weeks into it”…I’m currently running Xampp running Apache and MySQL. And using localhost, now the problem is, well not actually a “problem” i’m just quite unsure. And don’t want to be running into problems in the future. I am finally done designing my websites running multiple plugins, free themes and the whole blurb So question 1.
plugins! How many plugins may I put in my wordpress website. Is there a specific number that all you pro’s limit yourself to. Or do you guys go all out to around 20 plugins?
in the same topic, what about host websites? What can or can’t they do against each other or are they all the same? I don’t talk in code (but would really love to learn)
anyway im going to do a comparison… Lets say Hostgator vs 000webhost. one’s free. And I know, that speed is likely to be faster, and storage space is likelier to be bigger, and uptime. Hostgator in this case also provides SSL Certificates (No clue what they are) and …unlimited Email addresses (Can’t I create email addresses by myself on Gmail or any other mailing platforms unlimitedly *confused* ) I know it has something to do with mailing on the website… ? Would also like to get an answer for that.
4th question, themes! They all update… is creating a child theme necessary?
… i’m quite sure the answer is yes. Why not create something that takes a second to make, and will save you loads of time and hassle. That concludes my questions! My nickname is Bee, and its a pleasure to learn from all of you :) Peace!

Hi Bee, For future reference just read through the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
No to help you out quick,
Q1. You could have as many plugins as you like but make sure they have good ratings and frequent updates. Outdated plugins can cause security risks. Make sure you have WorpressVault or WordFence installed or something similar.Q2. Getting a good host is vital for backup support and those nitty gritty’s.
SSL Certificates is great for online shops. Google SSL for more infoQ3. Hosting your site online you would need a domain name for each site.
Like yourdomain.com and the unlimited email addresses means you could have your emails ex. (email visible only to moderators and staff) and so on.Q4. For sure updates are vital. Child themes are great if you want to edit CSS and PHP files without compromising your original theme code.
Hope that helps you. (”,)

zazter, you’re a legend!
Could I do some follow up questions to your answers? Cause I have a bit of an idea of Web Maintenance. But don’t clearly get, what you’ll do. Currently what I have got running in my head is.
1. Back up before any changes made.
2. Updating Themes & Plugins
– reasoning to that is mainly for security breaches (updates in layout, or features wouldn’t exactly matter though, actually it would require more time resetting your whole webpages to function in its new format. Is this the general idea?)3. Content Update (if necessary)
And what about security protocols, What would you recommend me doing for that. Any plugins that could help? Or manual methods of action?
Q3> I do understand about having a “domainname”.com or “dot)whatever” My english is horrible. Whats an Emails Ex. and [Email Redacted]…
Does this mean “all other host sites” only allow multiple websites under 1 email?
And in this case, “Hostgator” would allow multiple emails under 1 website?
.
On Q4. Child themes vital updates? … I dont think I can put my head around that… Course of action would be : updating the parent theme. the child theme follow along yes? -
