Trying to Import an xml file

  We had a site with another company but they used a simplified version of wordpress I did not like and was not worth paying for. I am trying to upload the xml file they sent me to my free wordpress site but it is not letting me and giving me a file error. What could be causing this file to not upload?

  Did you unzip the file? And do you know the size of it?
