Trying to import from another wordpress blog – get error message re WXR file???

    I’m trying to import my posts from another blog. Every time I get this message: ‘Sorry there has been an error. This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number.’ What does that even mean? And how do I get round it?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    The file that you are importing should be ending in the extension .xml

    With what extension does your file end? If you exported it from another WordPress.com site and it ends in .zip, you’ll first need to extract the file from the ZIP folder before you can import it.

    To do that, right-click on the .zip file on your computer and select the Extract/Extract All option. That will extract the .xml file that you can import here.
