Trying to import from other WordPress blog

    http://s233401047.onlinehome.us/ is the blog that I currently maintain for UFPJ-DVN.org. I’d like to switch it over to the above-named blog. Possible complication is that it’s a WordPress blog, but it’s part of the 1and1.com website service.
    I click on “import” and press the only button there. That immediately produces an XML file, I then I go over to ufpjdvnecon, where it says “Choose a WXR (.xml) file to upload,” and I then try to import the XML files and it tells me “Sorry, there has been an error. This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number.”
    How do I turn my XML file into an acceptable WXR file?
