Why can't I import my blog from Blogspot?

No posts are shown in the import box after I grant authorization for wordpress to access my blogspot blog

It doesn’t look like you started the import yet.
You’ll need to go back to Tools -> Import -> Blogger in your Dashboard and click the “Import” button next to each item.

It shows 0/0 posts and 0/0 comments for importing. There’s three years worth so it should show more than zero

Hm, that’s a problem then.
Can you download an export file from your Blogger blog and import that instead?

Yes, I can download an export file but everytime I identify it in wordpress and then push the import button, the file name disappears out of the box and nothing happens. Blogger exports it as an .xml file. Is that the correct format for wordpress? I don’t see any other options on Blogger when I’m exporting the file.

Okay, now it let me import the exported file – I guess. It now says:
Your file has been successfully uploaded. We will begin processing your import right away.
When wil lthe importing happen?

It should happen within the next 24 hours. You’ll receive an email when it has completed.

OK. Thanks! After all this, I certainly hope wordpress is more user friendly than blogger because that’s a pain to work with when you’re trying to arrange pictures and text and stuff.
