Trying to make blog post previews consistent witin archive page

    Hello!

It is difficult for me to explain this inquiry without providing a screenshot, but I’ll do my best.

As a freelance web content specialist, one of my clients has a blog page previewing her six most recent posts. The first five feature a post title, author, date, and ‘read more’. However, the sixth (most recent) post features the post title, author, date, AND the first paragraph of blog text, following by ‘read more’.

I am looking to change the preview format of this sixth (most recent) post so that it is consistent with the other five posts.

    Please advise. Thank you!

    Sincerely,
    Jeff Delwiche

  • Hi Jeff,

Can you tell us the URL of the site in question?

The answer would likely depend on whether or not the theme uses automatic excerpts, or whether post authors actually control the excerpt through using the more-block in their posts.

It could also be that the theme displays a certain number of posts differently in order to highlight most recent, sticky, or featured content.

    Hi,

adding some more insight to what’s said above (@kokkieh, hope that’s ok …):
For the post in question – it might be useful to go on post edit page and check if there is a page break ( a “Read more” ) block added after that first paragraph.
Some themes handle excerpts and archive pages in a way that it shows post excerpts in archive only if page break is added.

But, it would be much clearer and helpful if you could share the URL :)

    Cheers

  • @alensirola69, you’re always welcome to add additional info if you think we missed something :)

    Hello, @kokkieh and @alensirola69!

Thank you both for your responses.

Before I tinker any further, here’s the URL for the blog page: https://christinejquinn.com/blog/

When you have a chance, please give it a look and advise accordingly. :)

    Thank you!
    Sincerely,

  • Ahh thanks Jeff, that site actually isn’t here on our servers or using one of our themes. Did you mean to post in the WordPress forums for the free software?
