Trying to make my alternate domain a Spanish version of site

Hi. I cannot make a second domain on WordPress (serpalawoffice.com) unique from the primary domain (serpalaw.com) in order to make the former a Spanish-language version.

It sounds like you want Option 3:
First, you need to create the new WordPress.com site:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/
Then, let me know the new site’s address and which custom domain you’d like associated with it, and I will take care of the new mapping for you.

Definitely! We’ll still need to setup a new WordPress.com site though. It sounds like you would like to make serpalaw.wordpress.com/serpalaw.com the English version of your site and then have serpalawoffice.com as the Spanish version. To do that, we’ll need to setup a new site like serpalawoffice.wordpress.com. Then, we’ll move the custom domain to that site and start setting up the content. Can you create that new site following the steps here?

Definitely! So, once we mvoe the domain serpalawoffice.com to the site abogadoboston.wordpress.com, it will reflect the content on abogadoboston.wordpress.com (looks empty right now). It will still be managed under your same account (joeserpa).
If I understand correctly, the end goal is for serpalawoffice.com/abogadoboston.wordpress.com to be the Spanish version of serpalaw.com/serpalaw.wordpress.com. In order to make that happen, you’ll want to customize serpalawoffice.com/abogadoboston.wordpress.com to look like serpalaw.com (install the same theme, same widgets, etc). You’ll also want to have the same content just in Spanish. We’re setting up an identical site.
Once we get this done, we’ll put a menu item on serpalaw.com that will say something to the effect of “Spanish Version”. When clicked, that will take users to serpalawoffice.com, which will have the same content just in Spanish. Does that help to clarify?

Thanks. I already have the Spanish pages set up on my original site, serpalaw.com. Whats the easiest way to copy those ages over to the new site?

The easiest way would be to actually export them following the steps here:
Then, you could import the content into the new site:
That’s going to bring over all posts/pages (including the English ones). Then, you would need to delete the English pages on the new site (and leave the Spanish ones). Can you give that a try?

Jeremy: I have figured out exporting of the site pages. Now, can this site be on my current account? Using the domain serpalawoffice.com? Do we have to map it anywhere?

It looks like you created the site abogadoboston.wordpress.com under a different user account. It’s probably easiest if we combine both sites under your current account (joeserpa). Can you login under that new account you created for the site abogadoboston.wordpress.com and submit a request here in the forums asking for the site to be transferred to user joeserpa? You can open a new forum thread here:

I understand. However, in order to separate that domain, we’ll need to associate it with a different WordPress.com site. Currently, the domain serpalawoffice.com is associated with serpalaw.wordpress.com. In some ways, you can think of custom domains as masks that sit on top of .wordpress.com URLs. So, serpalawoffice.com is simply showing the content currently on serpalaw.wordpress.com. We need to move it to a different .wordpress.com site so it can have different content. That’s why we’ll need to move it to abogadoboston.wordpress.com.
To recap, once we’re finished, you’ll have the following:
– Blog: serpalaw.wordpress.com with custom domain serpalaw.com
– Blog: abogadoboston.wordpress.com with custom domain serpalawoffice.com

Can you create a new forum thread from the account that owns abogadoboston.wordpress.com asking for that site to be transferred to your current account at joeserpa?
