Trying to map a domain
-
Hi,
I registered a domain name and set up hosting on GoDaddy.com for my domain exercisemakesmehappy.com. When I go to the map an existing domain page and enter the domain it saysCongratulations! exercisemakesmehappy.com can be mapped to your blog.
However when I click “map now”, it does not do anything. I’ve tried this multiple times and cleared out my cache. I’m using firefox. I also tried doing this in chrome and had no luck.

and set up hosting on GoDaddy.com
If you set up hosting on Godaddy then you don’t want to map a domain – you will be using the WordPress.ORG software and need to make friends at WordPress.ORG for help
If you are mapping a domain – you need to have a blog here if you want to map a domain name to a blog here
-
Does that mean I have to create a free blog on here first using the .wordpress.com ending?
-
First question – do you want to be hosted on Godaddy or on WordPress.COM??
Two way different ways to have a blog

Thank you for your help! I figured it out. I needed to create a free blog first and then pay for a domain mapping. Now I can start adding content.

You be welcome
Remember that if you have your blog here – you don’t need to pay for hosting at Godaddy – save you a bit of money
You will still need to pay Godaddy for the domain registration (or someone) every year

At some point you might want to add email to match your custom domain name – several ways to do that
