Trying to migrate to GoDaddy
-
I am trying to migrate to GoDaddy. It seems that there is a block on the wordpress side and won’t let the migration happen. URL, username, and password have all been input correctly but we cannot proceed. Can you help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Have you ever checked and tried the steps in the following support page?
Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress
https://move.wordpress.com/If you can’t make it even with the step by step instruction above, it will be helpful for us that you describe more how you couldn’t make it.
Thanks :)

Thanks for the reply. I have been floating around trying different methods but I am by no means a programmer – just a stubborn DIY guy.
I build my site on wordpress.com. I made it public so I could see it online just to make sure things were working. Then I had GoDaddy walk me through how to migrate. Basically I get stuck at the credentials portion. I know for sure that the URL is correct, my username is correct, and my pword is correct. However, I keep getting the message that I have an incorrect username or pword. However, I for sure do not. To avoid paying any fees GoDaddy suggested trying to get help from wordpress. So my friend, here I am. GoDaddy figures that it is an issue on the WP side and based on a few Google searches that is probably the case. I am hoping I do not need to start using programs that I have never heard of to make this happen but we will see.
Does this make sense? Thanks a mil.

Thanks for your explanation.
First, please let me reaffirm what you want. As far as I read your explanation, I guess what you want is the following.
1, The WordPress.com site you have currently is timberspiritonline.wordpress.com.
2, You want to migrate this site(=timberspiritonline.wordpress.com) to GoDaddy. If you want to make it above, you need to follow the following steps which are in https://move.wordpress.com/
1. Purchasing web hosting
2. Installing WordPress
3. Transferring your site from WordPress.com to the new host
4. Registering a new domain name or transfer an existing domain
5. Installing the Jetpack plugin
6. Migrating your subscribersTherefore, I simply recommend you to follow the steps here: https://move.wordpress.com/.
However, I also recommend you to consider carefully again what benefits you will get by migrating from WordPress.com to a self-hosted site with GoDaddy. If you use WordPress.com site, WordPress.com takes care of most of the things that you have to do by yourself behind the scene. Especially if you want to concentrate on blogging or creating contents, WordPress.com site is a better choice than a self-hosted site especially for those who are not familiar with the Web.
If you want to know more about the difference between WordPress.com site and a self-hosted site with WordPress.org, please read the following support page.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org

Do you have a domain?
Are you trying to Point a WordPress.com Domain to GoDaddy

Hi timethief. I have a free domain and site set up w WordPress but am trying to have the site migrated over to the godaddy WordPress. Essentially have godaddy duplicate my original wp. I walked through it w godaddy and we got hung up. The migration is supposed to be easy. I like the support provided by godaddy and dislike the fact that there is no direct support (other than forums) from wp.com.
In the end I want everything housed at godaddy.

I’m in the same boat as timberspiritonline. Can log in successfully to my wordpress.com site, and can also login successfully to my GoDaddy site. Hit a wall when trying to migrate my .com site over–get the messsage “Invalid WordPress admin username or password.” even though I’ve successfully logged in. Most frustrating.
