Trying to move categories to Parent Category – HOW?

    I am trying to put my ever-growing categories into simpler Parent Categories, but they are not showing up as such on my blog once I have done it.

    I am using Suburbia Theme and on the right-hand side of my blog where the categories are, it still shows the previous categories rather than just the Parent Categories.

    I want the Parent Categories to be clicked on to be expanded, to show the regular categories underneath.

    Is this not possible? What am I doing wrong?

    Does anyone know? Nobody ever seems to reply to this type of query. Surely a MOD can post advice?
