Trying to post an mp3 in a blog post

Hi. I purchased the upgrade but I cannot seem to get my mp3 file to show up in my blog post. Can anyone walk me through the process? I’ve been able to upload the files – several times – but when I try to insert into the post, I never get the player.

I do have a wordpress.com blog and I have purchased an update, but I am still struggling with uploading an mp3 audio file. I managed to upload it ten days ago, and it was possible to open it and listen, even if the link did take the opener to the full-page Quick Time player and away from the blog page. I wrote in last week to ask about how to go about having a player embedded in the blog page, but could never make sense of the instructions, although I appreciate all the efforts everyone made to help me.
NOW, this audio file for some reason can no longer be opened at all. You click on the link and get taken to a blog page just for the link, but clicking again doesn’t take you to an audio….nothing happens.
Please if there’s anyone out there who can help me learn how to upload the file from my computer in such a way that there is also a small player right there with the link, and the listened can still read my blog page as he listens, I would so appreciate it.
Just please don’t direct me to http://support.wordpress.com/audio, I just cannot understand the instructions there….for instance if I have a file to upload from my own computer, what are they talking about when they say, “Upload an mp3 file somewhere on the internet and link to it like this [audio ] with the address inside… WHERE IS “somewhere on the internet”?

What is the URL of the uploaded MP3? Presumably you uploaded it to somewhere, and it now has a URL. A URL that ends with .mp3.

I cut and pasted the first URL from the body of the entry but it showed up as the link above. Well, in any case you will seel that if you click on it you’ll get nowhere fast

You’re right; that’s not the link of the uploaded MP3 file. When you uploaded it, did you hit Insert? Did you try to put it in the regular audio player?

(I’ve told nuralqasas what “somewhere on the internet” is, I’ve told him he doesn’t need it if he’s got the space upgrade, and I’ve told him what the URL is and how you use it to get the audio player in the post.)
So, to get this thing finished, this is what must be pasted in the html editor of the post:

yes i hit insert and that’s how it showed up on the blog page. I don’t know what you mean by “regular audio player.”
Here’s what I did: edit page open. on upper left of text page it says “upload/insert” with icon next to it. I clicked on audio icon. A smaller white box opened. I selected for browser upload rather than flash, browsed my computer files for the audio file I wanted. ( in later attempts I took it from gallery or media library) When it finally uploaded into the small white box, in the field next to “LINK URL:” I rewrote what was there so it would resemble the one suggested on the support page. (I have also attempted without rewriting anything and just leaving it as it shows up on its own.) Under that are three ovals, “NONE” “FILE URL” “POST URL” and under that is “Enter a link URL or click above for presets.” Since I have never known what to do here I have tried every possible combination before clicking on “insert into Post” with no success.Thanks for asking. Please help!

It worked like a charm!!! Now I just hope I’ll be able to figure out what to do with a completely new yet-to-be-uploaded file.
Sorry to be so dense…but be careful….one day you might be on the other side of 60 and everything will be so strange to you too!
