Trying to post source code

  I’m trying to post source code in a blog post on WordPress.com
  I’ve followed the instructions here:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/posting-source-code/

  And so have attempted (in the HTML editor):
  [code language='sql']
  select * from sometable
  [/code]

  However it just displays the whole thing as text as if it doesn’t recognise the shortcode.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
