Trying to Post Under Category Pages

In my new blog layout, I have the option to make ‘pages’ that appear at the top of the theme. My intention was to make it possible to click on one of these category ‘pages’, which would then bring the blog navigator to that categories head page, from which the reader can open one of the articles that I’ve written under that respective category. However, all each ‘page’ seems to provide is an individual page. I’m not certain I have my blog configured correctly in order to do what I want it to do, or perhaps I need some instruction in how to work the controls. Any assistance will be much appreciated.

You are on the right track and you have discovered that the category “pages” are not technically pages. But they are automatic compilations of all the posts under a category. And they look like a page and can be added to your menu.
