Trying to present my 'categories' in chronological order from oldest first

Followed the following guide which seems to be lacking information:

Add a String to Your URLs

Find the URL of the posts you wish to display chronologically. You can choose your whole blog feed, a specific category, or even a tag.
Your URL should look something like this:
    http://dailypost.wordpress.com/
Choose a start date! You can pick which date you want to be the starting point for your posts.
    Let’s say we pick January 1, 2014.
Add that date to your URL:
    http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/
That should give us all the posts from January, starting with the newest.
Reverse the order by adding ?order=asc to the end of the URL:http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/?order=asc
Now you should see all the posts from January, starting with the oldest!
Optional: create a custom menu with a link to the URL you created

I did this for one of my ‘categories’ and received a ‘not found’ message as if I was doing a search rather than changing the URL string for the category posts. What in the guide instructions is missing so I can change the URL rather than searching in the browser?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

From my tinkering it looks as though you can choose a start date OR a category.

If you can live with displaying all your posts from your category you can use the category alone and it will pick it up from your first post in the category – example:

    https://theplowbygeorge.wordpress.com/category/mystic-moments/?order=asc

The formatting of the original support article doesn’t explicitely combine the 2 searches of category and date: https://en.support.wordpress.com/show-your-posts-in-chronological-order/

Will be interested in seeing if others will provide an example limiting by date AND category.

We are getting closer and thank you for showing that the date as suggested in the support article is not needed. Certainly the URL you posted allows the ordering I desire when I change the URL; but the URL reverts back to the original if I go to another Category and go back to the Category with the URL I changed. I do not know how to make the URL stay with the ?order=asc ending.

If you want one or all of your categories always presented that way you could just use that link either for your menu link to the category.

Or use a text widget and link your categories using that code.

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

Maybe something like a text widget called Category Posts in Chronological Order and then for each category use the link like the sample above. For example:
    <a href="https://theplowbygeorge.wordpress.com/category/mystic-moments/?order=asc">Mystic Moments</a>
And list all of your categories in that way.
