Trying to Publish

  • Unknown's avatar

I created two separate blogs, one for my photographs, and the other for investment information, on the WordPress.com site. The first one is established without a problem and I have a single item listed.

I created a second blog under the same login. I created an entry, however there is only a Save and Continue Editing, and Save options, no Publish option. How do I publish the entry, or did I publish it when I saved it? If so, is there an option to allow me to save without publishing?

    Thank you –

Sounds like you somehow got your administrator status removed for the second blog. If so, you’re going to have to send in a feedback to staff once they get back up and running on the 2nd.

I’ll add the modlook tag to this thread to see if we can raise teh attention of a staff member beforehand though.

You are admin on both blogs.

“I created an entry, however there is only a Save and Continue Editing, and Save options, no Publish option. “

That sounds like you edited an existing entry,

Yes, this is correct, I edited the default initial message (PrudentInvestor blog). However, I also did this for my first blog (GLSmyth) and there was a Publish button separate from the two Save buttons. There was also an explanation concerning keeping the message private in the first blog that I did not see in the second one. Is there an option somewhere that addresses this? I’m just starting and didn’t see such an option, though it certainly could be somewhere.

I cannot address your original problem however with regard to your privacy question you will find answers in the FAQs blog.

What Mark is saying is that when you edit an existing entry, you only get the two Save buttons. Since the article is already published, in this case your welcoming entry, saving it republishes it.

When you first write a Post, there’s an option to Publish since the article hasn’t been published yet. You’ve just created it.

There should be an option to keep the Post private under the Post Status tab along the right hand side of the page when you either write or edit a Post.

    Hope this helps,

Actually, I started both blogs by editing the default message. The first one (GLSmyth) gave me the choice to publish, but the second one (PrudentInvestor) did not.

I looked at the links and they have to do with password protecting things. That really isn’t the issue. I am “assuming” that I can begin to write a post, save it, and come back later to finish it – when I publish it then everyone can see it (at least, that’s how I think it works). I’ll try putting together another post to see what happens.

    Cheers –
