trying to publish a post but it's taking hours and hours

  I entered my text only (with url links) into the post window and saved as a draft.
  later, clicked edit to make changes. resaved as draft
  Clicked on Preview and it looks great.
  Clicked ‘publish’, last nite, and today, it’s still trying to publish (ie the little spinning thing is still spinning).
  It’s my first post so I’m unsure whats wrong.
  I cut and pasted the url links into the post so maybe that’s the problem.
  HELP!
