Trying to redirect www.itsartlaw.com to itslartlaw.com, but doesn't work
-
Hi guys,
I’ve been trying to move my blog from blogger to wordpress in the past few days.
I have successfully moved it to http://itsartlaw.com, but now I want to redirect http://www.itsartlaw.com to itslartlaw.com and it doesn’t work.
I’ve added this line to the DNS records:
CNAME www itsartlaw.com.But I still do not see it working. Any thoughts?
Please help! Thank you so much!

WordPress.com strips out the www. for your convenience, and http://www.itsartlaw.com/ will always redirect to http://itsartlaw.com/
www is an old protocol from back when everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.
These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters.

Absolutely, and all I really want is to redirect from http://www.itsartlaw.com to itsartlaw.com… but right now that redirect doesn’t seem to work. Any ideas why?

OMG OMG it just started working. It was probably just a matter of DNS propagation. Thank you!

I am in Canada and I am redirected correctly to http://itsartlaw.com/
After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Thank you! It is strange to know that in some places you this works already and in others it does not. Will be patient.
Cheers. -
The first time I moved a name – the delay and erratic actions, me not being able to see the site but others could – really confused me and had me worried – waiting was very hard and scary
PS – one other question – do you have an email address that is through your custom domain name?
If so you have some other updates to make – see below for help

It’s common for the last ISP to flush their DNS caches to be your own ISP. You do not need our help. Patience is what’s required.
